Woods Kerrington had his life all mapped out until the beautiful Della Sloane breezed into town and captured his heart. Woods is ready to sacrifice everything for a future with her, when the sudden death of his father leaves him with a business to manage and his overbearing mother to care for.
Della wants to be strong for Woods, but the ghosts of her past never stop haunting her. Della is struggling to hold herself together, and fears she can't be there for Woods without dragging him down into the darkness with her. Is she strong enough to let go of the last thing holding her together?
Ah Rosemary Beach, you are just so damn addictive!
After the death of his father, Woods is now the owner of the Kerrington Club, a role he hadn't been properly prepared for. The only thing getting him through is having Della by his side. But then there's his mother, who isn't happy with the changes he's making to the club - mainly sacking everyone on the board and creating a new one with those he cares for the most. And then, to make matters worse, Angelina is caring for his mother, still trying to worm he way into Woods' life. Della is worried she's not going to be strong enough for Woods and herself, and when she overhears a conversation between Woods and Jace, her world is sent spinning as her worst fears come true - maybe Woods is better off without her dark problems. But Woods isn't going to let her go without a fight.
These Rosemary Beach books are so easy to consume - to the point where I've already read the next five books (six if you include the novella). I've seen the characters grow so much since this book that it's hard to go back and just look at this point in their story.
Abbi truly has a way with words and pulling at your emotions. You feel everything that Woods and Della feel - one minute you're happy for them, the next your sobbing when their heart is ripped out. Woods and Della, along with every character in this series, become your friends.
A moment in this book that I sort of spoiled myself on and that I've seen a lot of people talk about really broke my heart. I didn't think Abbi would go there, but she did. I was torn between wanting to have seen where those characters would have gone, but also knowing that I wanted to see the path Abbi had now set them on.
As you all know by now, I absolutely adore these books and the drama that unfolds in Rosemary Beach. With each new book, we continue to learn more about every character - the ones we've already followed and the ones we will soon follow in upcoming books. It's so easy to become immersed in their lives and escape into the world of Rosemary Beach.
Abbi Glines is a fantasic new adult author. Woods and Della's story was heartbreaking and beautiful. I've said it before and I'll say it again - you need to pick up these books! They are quick and easy reads that you'll be wanting to read again once you've finished. New adult is fast becoming my favourite genre.
