Rush's hot temper and impulsive attitude are the reasons that Blaire fell in love with him, but now, months into their relationship, Blaire wants the drama to stop. So when his family issues once again threaten to keep them apart, Rush has to choose what's more important: blood ties or his future with Blaire.
Rush promised Blaire forever... but is that a promise he can keep, or will their happily ever after always be just a step too far from him to reach?
Gosh I love Blaire and Rush! The final chapter in their story, while not exactly what I expected, was still everything I wanted to see these characters come through and achieve.
Rush wants to be there for Blaire and the baby. Forever. But Nan's new daddy issues are getting in the way of everyone living their peaceful lives. Rush is sucked back into her world of drama, as she continues to blame Blaire for stealing her brother and purposely getting knocked up to keep him. But despite Rush's continual promises that he'll always be there for Blaire and the baby, Blaire begins to feel abandoned. Between wanting to protect Blaire and wanted to help Nan, Rush must decide who is his number one priority. There's a wedding to be planned, but they might not reach the altar.
I really want to say something new in the way of praise for this book, without repeating what I've said for the previous two, but I just can't! I can't get enough of these characters, this setting and their story. Abbi just has a way with words that brings her characters to life. You become so attached to these characters and their lives, that you can't help feel their emotions.
Unfortunately, this book was a slight let down (only slight!), for two reasons. The first was Nan. Her petty drama took up so much time in this book and was so repetitive. Obviously, she's meant to be the villain in Blaire and Rush's story, but the girl needs to grow up! I felt like her constant feeling of abandonment got in the way of focusing on Rush and Blaire. Obviously, her story is important in regards to mental illness, but there were times when I just felt like slapping her across the face and screaming at her, telling her to get over her shit. Nan ends up with her own book in this series, so I felt let down that she gets so much focus in this one as well. It's hard to feel sorry for a character that is so damaged when she continues be act like an immature spoilt brat who always wants to be the center of attention.
The other issue I had with this book wasn't so bad. It was the ending. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing Blaire and Rush finally happy, but the ending just felt so anti-climactic after all they've been through. What really got me was that the last chapter is from Grant's perspective, and not even about Blaire and Rush. As much as I love Grant, I just wanted to the book to end with it's focus on our two main characters. The final part of the book also seemed a little rushed (pun not intended).
What I did love was seeing Abbi introduce us to two of the couples that will be the focus on the next two duologies in this series. I'm so excited to read more about Grant and Harlow because they were super cute in this book. While not as excited, I am certainly interested in Woods and Della's story too. Hopefully, we get to see a bit of Rush and Blaire in those stories too!
My favourite part of this book has got to be Rush's song. I found out about this song just after finishing the first book, and when I finally got round to its part in the book, listening to it was amazing. It fit so well and felt so right for these characters. Having Abbi not only write song lyrics in the book, but also turning them into an actual song just brings the story to life even more. If you haven't heard the song, listen to it here. (But only if you've read that part in the book!)
Overall, I felt this book was the perfect end to Blaire and Rush's story. And even though it wrapped up their story, I am left wanting more of them. Abbi has done such a fantastic job drawing you into the world of Rosemary Beach. These books are ones that I will reread over and over again, because I just love the story so damn much! I may be slightly obsessed with these characters, and I'm totally crushing on Rush, but who can blame me! If you're wanting to get into New Adult, this would be a fantastic place to start.
