Author: Abbi Glines
Genre: New Adult Contemporary
Released: 15 May 2017
Series: South Of The Mason Dixon #1
The only thing hotter than the weather South of the Mason Dixon line are the boys. Worn, faded blue jeans, slow Southern drawls, and those naughty moments in the back of pickup trucks a girl never forgets.
Welcome to the world of the Sutton boys.
Five brothers who fight, party, drink a little too much, but more importantly, they love their momma. Nothing can tear them apart… until the girl next door wins more than one of their hearts.
If you start and finish a book on the day it's released, that definitely means it's a good book! And just like most of Abbi's books, I was still up at 4am reading it!
Dixie Monroe has been in love with Asher Sutton since she was thirteen. With him being three years older than her, she never thought anything would happen between them - he's always seen her as a the kid he grew up living next to. But when she turns fifteen, her dreams come true when he makes her his. But their happiness doesn't last long when Asher suddenly drops her, despite confessing their love for one another. Three years later, Asher is back in town from college, still ignoring her. But Dixie has moved onto another Sutton brother, Steel, even though her heart still remains with Asher. When he finally reveals the secret he's been keeping for three years that tore them apart, Dixie's life if turned upside down as she realises her relationship with Steel won't work out.
If you've been following my reviews, you will know how much I am obsessed with Abbi's books, and Boys South Of The Mason Dixon is no exception. From the very first page I was hooked and struggled to put the book down, hence still reading at 4am and trying to keep my eyes open! I don't think I've ever started and finished and book on release day, and now I have a long wait until book two, which is why I don't recommend doing this (haha).
I really enjoyed the alternating between the past and the present at the beginning of the book, and this paired with the alternating perspectives between Dixie and Asher was something I really enjoyed. I only wish that we got to see more of their past relationship with more flashbacks. With these alternating perspectives and time periods, I was alternating between laughing and smiling, to having tears in my eyes - damn it being so easy for me to cry in books! It may have been an emotional roller coaster, but it was definitely worth it. (And it was worth getting little sleep too)
I loved Asher and Dixie's story, and the few twists and turns definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. I didn't want the book to come to an end, but I was happy with how it ended - I only wish there was more. Hopefully, we get to see more of them in the rest of the series!
If you've enjoyed Abbi's previous books, you'll definitely enjoy this one. It has everything that we all know and love from Abbi. New adult and contemporary romance fans should check out this book (and Abbi's work in general) too! Take it from someone who can't get enough of Abbi's books - you need to pick one up and fall down the rabbit hole and fall in love with the guys.
