Happy New Year Everyone!
This year, I thought I'd try and get back into doing Top 5 Wednesday! And what better way to start of the year by talking about my 2018 reading resolutions.
For those who don't know, Top 5 Wednesday is a Goodreads group created and run by Lainey and Samantha, with a new topic every single week to discuss. It's such a great way to to talk about different books and your opinions on them, as well as connecting with other members of the community - so definitely check it out and join!
1. Reading Goal
This year, my goal is to read 75 books. After having smashed my 2017 50 book goal and reading a total of 83 books last year, I definitely think this goal is achievable, especially if I continue to read amazing books that I fly through.
2. Better Blogging
In 2017, I definitely slacked off when it came to writing reviews - which are essentially the foundation of being a book blogger. This all came down to the fact that I was reading books so quickly without stopping to write a review before picking up the next. I should technically have 83 or so reviews on this blog from 2017, but I have probably under 20. This year, I want to drastically improve on writing and posting reviews, with the aim of writing a review for every single book I read this year (and catching up on a few from last year).
3. Reading Diversely
I say this every year, and I'm pretty sure I'm slowly getting there, but I want to read more diversely. Apart from just generally picking up more diverse books, especially from Own Voices authors, I also want to read more non-fiction, poetry and short stories, as well as more books from genres I don't typically pick up.
4. POPSUGAR Reading Challenge
Last year, I aimed to try and complete the 2017 POPSUGAR Reading Challenge, but I didn't really try that hard. This year, I'm going to give the challenge a proper attempt, and try and complete at least half the challenges. I don't see myself actually completing the entire challenge, but if I can get half the books read, then I'll be happy.
5. Getting My TBR Under Control
My TBR is totally out of control. I have way too many unread books on my shelves, and I'd love to be able to get my TBR down, just a little bit. I've got way too many books to get my TBR down completely, but between cutting down on buying books and reading through my owned books, I hope to be able to at least take a chunk out of it. If it stick to this, I should be able to eventually get my TBR down to a more manageable number.
Will I be able to stick to these resolutions? I hope so, but I know that if I stray, I won't be too upset with myself. What about you? What are some of your reading resolutions for this year?
I hope you all have a fantastic reading year this year and that you read some amazing books along the way!
See You Soon
