For the past few years, my local council and library service have celebrated International Women's Day with a literary lunch, with a female author as a special guest. Each year, I've never been able to attend, as it has usually been on a weekday, or a weekend where I've been busy. However, this year, I will be attending.
Now, because I live in a rural area, this isn't going to be a huge event with someone like Jackie French in attendance. And because I haven't been, I have no real idea about what is going to happen, but I'm still excited to go and meet the guest speaker.
This year's guest speaker is Margaret Carroll OAM who, despite me never actually have heard of, is a rural women's advocate who has written three books. I'm excited about attending and seeing what it's all about and meeting such a strong rural woman.
The lunch will be taking place on March 8, and I'll be writing a post about it, and hopefully vlogging some of the event, so check back then for my thoughts on my first literary lunch!
See you soon!
