The year is 1992, and no one on the rock music scene is hotter than Kiro Manning, the lead singer of Slacker Demon. With a multi-platinum record, total ownership of the Billboard charts, sold-out concerts, and sinful amounts of money, Kiro can have anything - and anyone - he wants.
So when a dark-haired, conservative beauty rebuffs him at a concert after-party, his first thought is, "Who the hell does she think she is?" His second thought: "How do I make her mine?" Kiro has always loved a good challenge, but not every girl wants to get involved with a rock god. Especially this girl.
He let her go that night, but he never forgot her. And when they met again, he vowed not to give up again so easily.
As the world worshipped Kiro, he came to worship the girl, who became everything he never knew he needed. The only girl he would ever love. His Emily.
A beautifully heartbreaking novella, showing the relationship between Harlow's parents - Kiro & Emily Manning.
It's 1992 and Slacker Demon are spending every night of their tour partying with fans and sleeping with new women every night. Emily and her cousin manage to get into a Slacker Demon party, but it's not Emily's scene, and as she leaves, she attracts the attention of Kiro Manning. The next day, after he cousin hooked up with one of the band memnbers, she's invited to stay in the penthouse. Despite his reputation, Kiro realises that Emily is too innocent for a guy like him - he doesn't want her to be another hook up. As they spend the next few months talking every week, Emily is soon presented by an offer - to move to LA and be the Slacker Demon's new housekeeper. But Kiro has other plans for Emily - he wants to make her his and have a future with her. He may be a rock god to the rest of the world, but behind closed doors, he's a completely different man because of Emily.
After everything we've already leaned about Emily and Kiro in Take A Chance and One More Chance, this novella was so beautiful and yet so heartbreaking. We know that Emily and Kiro don't have a happy ending. But despite what we know, I desperately wanted this story to end differently. I wanted them to have a happy ending.
This story showed such a different side to Kiro. In the series, he's a rock god who spends his days drinking and sleeping with multiple women. But here, we see why he became that man after he lost Emily, and why Harlow is so important to him and the only child he really cared about. It was also great to see Dean and Georgiana, as well as toddler Rush and Mase.
I really wished this was a full novel - 100 pages was just not long enough! If you're reading this series, this is a must-read novella. Prepare to have your heart broken.
