Rush is jaded and has dark secrets that Blaire's afraid of uncovering, but despite Rush's troubles, Blaire just may have fallen too far to walk away...
You know you love a book when you stay up until 4am reading it! I'm both grateful and annoyed that I didn't have book two.
Blaire arrives at her fathers place, only to find that he and her stepmother have flitted off to Paris. Then she meets her stepbrother Rush, son of the famous rocker Dean Finlay. He's an arse but he's sexy as hell. Initially not wanting her to stay, he allows her to live in the maid's room (under the stairs) for a month until she can afford a place to live. Blaire doesn't want to be a burden, and sets out the following day, landing herself a job that not only pays well, but also comes with insane tips. After she witnesses Rush having sex on the porch, he warns her to keep her distance, because she's too good for a guy like him. But as their attraction for one another grows, it becomes harder and harder (literally) for them to keep apart. But Rush has secrets that keep him from fully opening up to her. Despite the feelings they have for one another, she's just his dirty little secret, that the whole town knows about. Everyone but Blaire knows the secret and it could just tear her life apart.
Is it too soon to reread a book you only finished seven hours ago? I absolutely loved this book and can't wait to continue Blaire and Rush's story. I was hooked from page one and could not put the book down.
Fallen Too Far is one of those books that you know is a little predictable, a little cliched, and definitely has instalove, but it's one that you love anyway. And while the romance side of the book was predictable, the secrets certainly were not. Although, I may have been so wrapped up in the romance that I wasn't paying attention to anything else. I was sucked into these characters lives and did not want to leave when I turned to final page.
Blaire and Rush were great characters. Blaire continually shows how strong and independent she is, and that she wants to work for her place in the world, not smooch off of people. While she is attracted to Rush, she is determined to keep him at a distance, knowing he's not the guy for her. And despite Rush's flaws, his arrogance and the fact he's an arse most of the time, he realises that Blaire isn't a girl he can just sleep with and throw to one side. She's not like the girls in Rosemary Beach. Rush cares for Blaire and you can see how he changes throughout the book - from the guy who just parties and sleeps with girls, to someone who wants to be the good guy for the girl who deserves more than him.
I've said it before and I'll say it again - Abbi Glines just knows how to write New Adult. The characters feel so real and you are sucked into their lives, living through their happiness and heartache. This book had me in tears and smiling. Abbi's writing is so easy to take in and enjoy. Colleen Hoover blurbed this book saying "Every time I read one of Abbi's books, I declare it my new favourite," and I couldn't agree more! This is her third book that I've read and I love it just as much, if not more, than the last. Her writing, characters and settings are just so addictive.
Say what you will about these books, but i just can't get enough. Abbi is now definitely my favourite contemporary author, and I know I'll be reading most of her books. If you're looking for a quick contemporary read that's got romance, heartache, and a hot male character, then this is the book for you. And after the cliffhanger at the end of this book, you'll be wanting more of Blaire and Rush's story - I know I do! A highly recommended read for anyone looking to get into New Adult books.
Now to wait until book two arrives from Bookdepository...
